I – Before You Start Entering Photos
Entry Fee and Payment
The yearly fee will be $5.00 to help toward the annual cost for owning Smugmug Premium Accounts. The yearly fee will allow entry into all shows held by TOPSA for that year, including the year-end Championship show for qualified entries. Images entered into TOPSA will remain within the Smugmug show account and be rolled over month-to-month, so there will be no need to re-upload them. You may show an unlimited number of photos in the TOPSA Online Show series.
Payment may be made by Paypal, Check, or Money Order.

Model Sizes & Finishes
You will need to select the appropriate Division to show your model in depending on the size and make of your model. There is a photo on the TOPSA Yahoo Group Homepage that shows several types of models and their sizes (http://members.tripod.com/topsa/index-1.html).

1. Go to http://www.smugmug.com and click the “Login” link in the upper right corner.
2. Type in the proper email (this will change with each Section of the show, each of the 5 Sections consists of 4 Divisions each), then the password and Click “Login”

NOTE: If your screen does show only the 4 class title cards proceed to step 4.
If your screen DOES NOT show only 4 class title cards, click these two Options/(links) on the page:
POSITION (next to Sort Categories – above the red box) and
CATEGORIES next to Display above the blue box.
DO NOT CHANGE THESE SETTINGS otherwise.
4. Now click on the class card where you’d like to upload photos
5. In the upper right corner click “Upload” and a drop down menu will open –
- highlight the first option with your mouse “To This Gallery”.
DO NOT choose ANY other option in the drop down menu. IF you accidentally
create another gallery – STOP – email someone from the Behind the Scenes staff
immediately.
6. A new window will open – click on the “Browse” (in the lower left corner of the dialog box) to select files button
7. Choose your file from your computer wherever it is located. The upload to SmugMug is VERY quick!
You can also choose multiple files from the same folder to upload at once by holding the control
button down on your keyboard while you click each file. OR you can upload from different areas
by continuing to hit the browse button for each location until you are done with all the photos you
want to upload to that class.
Note: Photo(s) does not show until you click close.
8. Click the Close button (lower right corner of dialog box) when you are through uploading files.
9. Now click your photo and then click the “Add Caption” link
10. This is where you will type your information for the Title Line and Description line.
NOTE: Unlike Smugmug, in Smugmug both the Title and Description will all be typed in the same box.

When entering information – First, type your Model Name – Owner Initials – Exhibitor Number

Do NOT move your new entries or fixed DQ entries that have been re-entered inside the TOPSA gate. Leave them where they are when they upload, the Behind the Scenes crew will do this before the next show is judged.
Now you can click on any other photo(s) to finish typing your info to complete the entries.
To go back to the same Division classlist, click the Division title in the upper left corner. To go back to the main section (where you saw the 4 division class cards all together) click the “topsaone” or “topsatwo” etc at the farthest left link:
II – Rules
Photo Image and Size Requirements
1. Each photo submitted must include an Equine model horse subject, such as a horse, pony, long-ear, exotic, or fantasy. Models may be haired or flocked, but no stuffed horses will be allowed.
2. Photos must be in .jpg format and no larger than 400 pixels in width and/or height, scanned at 300 dpi or less with a file size of 90k or less. For Performance ONLY – maximum size will be 650 pixels by 400 pixels scanned at 300 dpi or less with a file size of 150k or less.
Halter (Breed and Color) – maximum 400 x 400
Performance – maximum 650 x 400
This will be strictly enforced. Oversized photos entered in any TOPSA class will be DQ’d. Re-sizing entries is the responsibility of the entrant.
3. Photos that have been copyrighted, signed or named somewhere on the photo will be allowed as long as the writing or copyright mark does not cover the horse in any manner.
4. Framed or oval-shaped photos will NOT BE allowed.
5. Digitally enhanced backgrounds, touchup of horse or background is not allowed. Adding or removing anything from the original photo is not allowed. The only editing allowed for images is resizing, adjusting the brightness and cropping.
6. Flipping of photos (mirror images) is NOT allowed.
Why We Have a File Size Limitation
1. To establish a fair and equal size for all entries.
2. So that the judge will be able to compare images of similar size.
Information on Specific Class Entry Limits and Requirements
1. Entries are limited to 10 per class from each exhibitor, UNLESS stated differently
on the classlist.
2. When a TOPSA show is open for entries (January, March, May, July and September),
paid Entrants will be supplied with the Password needed to gain access to the Smugmug
accounts. The password for the current show will be sent to entrants via email. The Entry
Password for that show will work for all TOPSA accounts. If you do not receive the
password, please contact Betty Hook at: [email protected]
Show are held bi-monthly in February, April, June, August and October with a
Championship show in December. All horses that place 1st – 3rd in any class are
qualified for the Championship show.
3. Entrants are required to upload each of their own entries into the correct Smugmug Account Album,
for the correct Division and Class.
4. Entrants will also be required to identify each entry with the Required Title Information and
Description Information (including information required on the Performance Classlist).
Incorrectly identified entries will be disqualified.
5. Images found to be entered into the wrong Division or Class will be Disqualified (DQd) by the
judge. The judge will leave you a comment with information for correcting your entry for the
next show.
6. Once the show is judged, the Behind the Scenes (BTS) folks will move all DQ’d entries to the DQ
Folder in the Division they are showing in. Entries moved to the DQ Folders will remain in the
folder until the OWNER of the entry REMOVES the DQ comment and MOVES the entry back into
the appropriate class; or until deleted by one of the BTS crew if not corrected within 2 months.
Remember to make any necessary changes to your entries before you return it to its class.
7. If you notice any obviously incorrect entries by other participants, such as mislabeled entries, or in
the wrong Album/Division/Class, please notify the Show Moderator at: [email protected].
DO NOT make any corrections to images that are not yours.
****Please respect the rights of other Entrants and do not delete, edit, move, copy or alter the entries of others. Any entrant found to be guilty of tampering with the images of other Entrants shall be banned from showing with TOPSA and their entries will be removed from Smugmug. ****
****No one (Entrants or Judges) shall make any changes to the Smugmug accounts’ layout, Album/Class Titles, Class Breed Assignment lists, Color Assignment lists, Show Rules Album, or TOPSA images without approval from Betty. Anyone found to have made unapproved changes will be banned from showing with TOPSA. ****
9. Photos taken at live shows or photos that have been photo-shopped are NOT allowed and will be DQ’d .
10. One entry per class per horse.
11. In Halter Divisions, each horse may be entered into only ONE breed class and ONE color class.
12. Tack is required in all Performance classes unless stated otherwise on the Performance
Classlist.

III – Image Uploading Instructions
Before Entering Your Horses
Make Sure your Images are sized according to the instructions in Section II, Photo Image and Size Requirements.
Please consult the Breed Assignment List, Color Assignment List, and Color Pattern Guides for the Specific Division. These lists are available in the files section of the TOPSA Yahoo Group and on the TOPSA Website. These lists will help you select the correct class. Breed or color assignments for classes will also be noted at the bottom of the Album/Class pages on Smugmug. Look for the Breed Assignment lists below the thumbnails.
Please do not guess where a breed should be entered. If a breed is not on the list, or you are not sure where your color should be shown, please ask Betty for assistance.
REMEMBER: DO NOT CORRECT OR MOVE ANY IMAGES THAT DO NOT BELONG TO YOU – DOING SO COULD RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF YOUR ENTRIES.

11. Do NOT put any information in the “Comment Box”. This box is for the Judge’s use only when leaving DQ comments. Any entries that have owner comments in the comment box will be moved to the DQ Folder whenever a “BTS” person notices there is a comment in the comment box.

III – Image Uploading Instructions
Before Entering Your Horses
Make Sure your Images are sized according to the instructions in Section II, Photo Image and Size Requirements.
Please consult the Breed Assignment List, Color Assignment List, and Color Pattern Guides for the Specific Division. These lists are available in the files section of the TOPSA Yahoo Group and on the TOPSA Website. These lists will help you select the correct class. Breed or color assignments for classes will also be noted at the bottom of the Album/Class pages on Smugmug. Look for the Breed Assignment lists below the thumbnails.
Please do not guess where a breed should be entered. If a breed is not on the list, or you are not sure where your color should be shown, please ask Betty for assistance.

TOPSA Showers Instructions For Uploading Photos on Smugmug
If you have any issues with uploading photos, please contact a Behind the Scenes member immediately.
1. Go to http://www.smugmug.com and click the “Login” link in the upper right corner.
2. Type in the proper email (this will change with each Section of the show, each of the 5 Sections consists of 4 Divisions each), then the password and Click “Login”

3. Click on the Division Card which you would like to upload photos to:
NOTE: If your screen does show only the 4 class title cards proceed to step 4.
If your screen DOES NOT show only 4 class title cards, click these two Options/(links) on the page:
POSITION (next to Sort Categories – above the red box) and
CATEGORIES next to Display above the blue box.
DO NOT CHANGE THESE SETTINGS otherwise.
4. Now click on the class card where you’d like to upload photos
5. In the upper right corner click “Upload” and a drop down menu will open –
- highlight the first option with your mouse “To This Gallery”.
DO NOT choose ANY other option in the drop down menu. IF you accidentally
create another gallery – STOP – email someone from the Behind the Scenes staff
immediately.
6. A new window will open – click on the “Browse” (in the lower left corner of the dialog box) to select files button
7. Choose your file from your computer wherever it is located. The upload to SmugMug is VERY quick!
You can also choose multiple files from the same folder to upload at once by holding the control
button down on your keyboard while you click each file. OR you can upload from different areas
by continuing to hit the browse button for each location until you are done with all the photos you
want to upload to that class.
Note: Photo(s) does not show until you click close.
8. Click the Close button (lower right corner of dialog box) when you are through uploading files.
9. Now click your photo and then click the “Add Caption” link
10. This is where you will type your information for the Title Line and Description line.
NOTE: Unlike Webshots, in Smugmug both the Title and Description will all be typed in the same box.
Information Required for the Title Line:
Model Name
Owner’s Initials
Owner’s Exhibitor Number
When entering information – First, type your Model Name – Owner Initials – Exhibitor Number
(Example: Riley – ABC - #100
THEN skip two spaces and type the remainder of the TOPSA required Description information.
Complete Description information required for Entries:
Model Color (Patterns are NOT required)
Breed (See the TOPSA Breed Assignment List for EXCEPTIONS to this requirement – NEW List for 2013
Gender *Note: For Div. B – OF Stones ONLY – If the model is a One OF A Kind (OOAK) Release or if the model is an Extreme Factory Custom that information MUST be included here as well as the release/mold name assigned by the Factory
Owner’s Name
Any Additional Information Relative to the entry that the owner may want to add (i.e.: Halter, links to breed or color information or references; Performance, links to patterns referenced {although in some classes, it is a requirement to list the pattern) [Performance Entrants: Please see the instructions on the Performance Classlist for general and individual class requirements.]

Class Number
Then click the “Save” Button.
Do NOT move your new entries or fixed DQ entries that have been re-entered inside the TOPSA gate. Leave them where they are when they upload. The Behind the Scenes crew will do this before the next show is judged.
Now you can click on any other photo(s) to finish typing your info to complete the entries.
To go back to the same Division classlist, click the Division title in the upper left corner. To go back to the main section (where you saw the 4 division class cards all together) click the “topsaone” or “topsatwo” etc at the farthest left link:
11. Do NOT put any information in the “Comment Box”. This box is for the Judge’s use only when leaving DQ comments. Any entries that have owner comments in the comment box will be moved to the DQ Folder whenever a “BTS” person notices there is a comment in the comment box.
DO NOT USE ANY QUOTATION MARKS IN YOUR DESCRIPTION.
A Description should include only one Div. and Class #.
